WORCESTERSHIRE’S Charlie Cobain is proving to be a hotshot in the Schools’ Challenge Academy.

The 13-year-old Pershore High School pupil from Strensham has been shooting for just under two years.

Cobain (pictured) has seen his displays improve vastly since competing with the Novice Schools’ Challenge.

He qualified for the final with 27 out of 30 in the 10th anniversary shoot at the Oxford Gun Company.

Cobain was 20th out of 500 under-21s in the United Kingdom representing his school.

He said: “I finished the competition with a score of 41 out of 50, showing all my training had paid off.

“The thing I like about clay shooting is you can shoot with a world champion on your first ever shoot, making the sport unique. You cannot play golf with Tiger Woods the first time you play golf!”

The academy was founded in 2013 to create an elite coaching scheme for enthusiastic and committed youngsters who want to take their sport to the next level.
