DAN Nti admitted he “hadn’t enjoyed a game of football like that in a while” after helping Worcester City tear apart Stalybridge Celtic at Aggborough.

And he hopes the 5-0 victory can kickstart a winning run as City look to “burst through the glass ceiling” and into the top half of Vanarama National League North.

Nti was the star of the show as he saw his cross diverted past Tony McMillan by Celtic defender Peter Wylie before getting a quick-fire double and setting up Amadou Bakayoko for City’s fourth goal.

“I will take that,” Nti said. “On a personal note, I am happy to score two goals and get two assists.

“We were 3-0 up at half-time but the message was to kick on, get as many goals as you can, keep the team together and don’t concede. I think we did that well.

“When Jordan (Murphy), Shaun (Donnellan) and I got taken off, we spoke in the changing room.

“I said I hadn’t enjoyed a game of football like that in a while, so it is a testament to the team and how we created space and kept the ball.

“We looked relaxed on the pitch and I think the fans saw that we were enjoying it and hopefully we put on a good show for them.”

The last time Worcester won 5-0 was against the now-defunct Hinckley United in November 2012,but Nti, who joined the club in 2013, said he saw the result coming.

“Granted, we lost to Chorley but the pitch was horrible and the two games before that against Fylde and North Ferriby we did very well in,” said Nti, whose side travel to play-off chasing Boston United on Saturday (3pm).

“So I think it has been building and I think on Tuesday night we hit our heights.

“But we have just got to keep going and burst through that glass ceiling.

“It is tiring (playing so many games) but we are on a roll at the moment, so it is good to get a result like this at this point because we just want to keep our momentum going and climb up the league.

“We have got 14 games left and want to finish as high up the table as we can.”
