TWO swimmers from Peopleton's Bowbrook House School shone at an ISA National event at the Olympic Park in London.

Jacob Elliott, a year 9 student, scooped a gold medal in the breaststroke and Guy Anderson, a year 10 student, bagged a bronze medal in the freestyle against fierce competition.

The duo had become Midland ISA Swimming Champions in November and did not look out of place on the national stage.

Elliott, the reigning National ISA champion went to the Olympic Pool to defend his title.

Even though Elliott was one the youngest competitors in a year 9 and 10 category, he was outstanding.

He came back with a gold medal and was crowned ISA National champion in the individual 100m breaststroke.

On winning the title, he said: “I’m so pleased to have won again. I wasn’t sure if I would this time but being in the Olympic Pool is such an amazing venue. It really pushed me on and I’m already looking forward to next year."

Anderson had previously won the Midland’s backstroke competition, qualified for the 100m backstroke and in the medley and freestyle relays at the ISA Nationals.

He managed fifth, fourth and third places respectively and came away with a bronze medal.

Richard Mills, assistant head teacher and head of PE, said “Jacob and Guy continue to train hard and compete for their clubs as well as school. We are very proud of them - these are two to watch in the future."
