WORCESTER motorbike ace Liam Turberfield kept up the pace at the top of the NG Road Racing Championship with two top-five finishes at Cadwell Park.

The 26-year-old from St John’s was delighted with his display on his maiden appearance at “one of the most intimidating tracks in the country”.

Keen to build on two podium finishes in the opening two rounds at Brands Hatch, he struggled during testing.

He was fourth during the opening qualifier and then had an “awesome race” when the action began. He even crashed without coming off his bike.

“I eased off and let the leaders go and I came back to finish fourth,” he said.

During qualifying for the second race, Turberfield enjoyed another action-packed tussle and almost flipped his bike..

Turberfield made a poor start to the second race and enjoyed an exciting battle with Jamie Griffiths to finish in fifth spot.

“Two top-five finishes was my goal and I was over the moon.”
