NEWLY-PROMOTED Stourport launch their maiden campaign in the top flight of the Worcestershire League against Belbroughton at Walshes Meadow tomorrow (1pm).

Stourport gained back-to-back promotions under the leadership of Craig Siwicki, who joined the club eight seasons ago when they were in Division Four.

Craig’s brother Andrew Siwicki has re-joined from Kidderminster, while 21-year-old Ryan Derrick and Steve Yarsley have also followed his path to Stourport.

South African batsman Kevin Renecke, who topped the Division Two charts last summer after hitting 1,147 runs with a top score of 204 not out, also returns to Stourport.

Skipper Siwicki said: “Renecke was our first-ever overseas player last season and it made a massive difference and he’s back this summer.

“We have some nice derby matches against Bewdley to look forward to and if we apply ourselves as I know we can, we should be fine.

“We now have a squad of 17 players who could all play in the first team and I’ve got some tough decisions to make. Competition for places will be fierce.”

He added: “Clubs who haven’t been to Walshes Meadow before will enjoy the facilities.”
