DROITWICH’S The Talbot claimed the first McDonald’s Worcester and District Football League’s Southam Trophy after a 1-0 win against Malvern’s Ale Madrid.

Talbot were the best team in the first half and took the lead when Madrid’s Dan Gardner turned the ball past his own goal keeper in trying to block a shot on goal.

Madrid came more into the game after the interval, but a combination of poor shooting and some excellent saves by Talbot’s giant goalkeeper Chris Rich kept the score line the same.

Brickfields are the Sunday League Division Three champions. They clinched the title with a 3-0 win at Powick, with goals from George Corbett, Joe Corbett and Jake Newman.

Elsewhere, Dean Barmby and Dominic Groves were on target as New Inn Saints beat Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves 2-1.

The race for the Premier division crown looks like going to the wire.

If Hallow win their final three matches, they will take the title. In their latest victory, Brad Birch hit a hat-trick as they beat Northside 3-0.

Callow End currently lead the table, Jon Mann scoring twice in their 5-0 win at Malvern Radar. Dean Spiers netted both goals as Perrywood defeated The Gloster Arms 2-1.

Colwall Village need just one point to win Division Two after beating nearest rivals Drakes Broughton Rangers 2-1. Ryan Ince and Joel Hobbs were on the scoresheet for the villagers. Dan Burdon and George Brand both bagged a brace as Hornets thumped Colwall St James 5-0.

Falcons were presented with the Division One trophy before a 1-1 draw with Worcester Saints, who will finish runners-up if they win just one of their last three matches.

Jon Speak and Chris White both netted twice as Hallow Village crushed Worcester City Wanderers 5-1. Goals from Dave Eade and Paul Bennett gave Claines a 2-0 win over the University of Worcester A.

Mike Cox scored twice as Division Four pace setters Fernhill Heath Athletic won 5-2 at The Bell @ Pensax Reserves. Darren Palmer notched a double in VBL’s 4-0 home win over Tenbury Athletic. Lewis Pinches and Chris Read both bagged a brace as Prince of Wales won 5-1 at Malvern Vale.

Tom Tandurella cracked a hat-trick as Pershore Town Eagles went to the top of Division Five with a 4-0 victory over Worcester Saints Reserves. Eagles will take the title if they avoid defeat in the championship decider with Warndon Villages next Sunday.

Mark Cooke scored twice as Droitwich Spa Eagles A drew 2-2 at Oldbury Park Tigers.
