WORCESTER City have received a big boost after “unsung hero” Tom Sharpe agreed a one-year contract extension.
Sharpe was one of City’s most consistent performers during the 2015/16 campaign, making 38 appearances at the heart of their defence.
The 27-year-old, who joined Worcester last summer, was also awarded manager’s player of the year at the end-of-season awards.
Boss Carl Heeley said he was "absolutely delighted" to have someone of his experience on board for next season.
“Tom is a quiet lad, but he is experienced, he knows the league and they are the type of players you want at the club,” he said.
“You can rely on him as he does his job every week and never gets into trouble.
“He is one of those players that doesn’t get recognised, but they are the unsung heroes of the team and the ones that stop you from having a heart on the touchline as a manager.
“He is also available for lots of games which is another positive, so I'm absolutely delighted to have re-signed him."
He joins Tyler Weir, Graham Hutchison, Lee Hughes, Kyle Perry, Danny Jackman, Connor Gater, Jamie Smith and Dean Waldron, who have already put pen to paper for the new campaign.
