NEWLY-PROMOTED Ganesh Pillai is the early leader of Worcester Badminton League Division One.
Two weeks into the season, Pillai has beaten Przemek Iwachow 2-1 and Kashif Ali 3-0, but lost 2-1 to Monirul Islam.
It was a close match against Islam, who just kept his unbeaten record, winning one game 25-23.
Steve Turberfield’s 3-0 wins over Ali and Chris Alexander earned him second, while reigning champion Islam went third, having also beaten Ali 3-0.
Neil Darwell and Jeremy Swift are looking for a quick return to the top flight.
Darwell leads Division Two after 3-0 victories over Swift and Maria Harrison, but he lost by the same score to Carl Fordham.
Swift is second, having beaten Harrison and Steve Wilson 3-0.
Harrison went third after two more 3-0 defeats to Dean Hardie and Hassan Javed and a 2-1 loss to Wilson.
University of Worcester second teamer Alex Howard tops Division Three after beating third-placed Craig Burns 3-0 and losing 2-1 to Tom Wall, who is second.
Wall leads the Superleague, having earned 3-0 wins over Darwell, Wilson and Neil Harding.
Ali is second after 3-0 wins over Milko Hadzhigenov and Bassam Haider and a 3-0 loss to Alexander.
Islam follows, having also beaten Haider 3-0.
New players can begin matches immediately.
