WORCESTER Warriors head physiotherapist Mike Lancaster will be part of the England Saxons medical team this summer during their two-match series against South Africa A.

Lancaster, who joined Warriors in 2006 and has overseen the club's medical department for the last four seasons, will join the four-person medical team accompanying the England Saxons squad.

It is the second time he has been away with the nation after touring Argentina with the full England squad in 2013.

Lancaster said: "It is an honour to be given the opportunity to be part of the Saxons medical team this summer and it is something I am looking forward to.

"I'd like to thank the Warriors management team for allowing me to complete this international commitment.

"It is always a good experience to be around an international set-up and I am sure the tour will be of great benefit.”

Saxons and South Africa A will face each other in Bloemfontein a week on Friday and then match up again in George on June 17.

The match sees South Africa A compete for the first time since 2003, while Saxons will play their first match since January 2015's victory over Ireland Wolfhounds.

Worcester high performance director Nick Johnston said: "For Mike to be asked to go away with Saxons this summer is testament to the work he has done at Warriors in recent seasons.

"His expertise will be hugely beneficial to the Saxons medical team over in South Africa and the trip will give him more valuable experience of an international set-up."
