DAN Nti will begin the next chapter of his career with York City after leaving Worcester City to fulfil his dream of playing professional football.

The 23-year-old has penned a two-year contract at the Vanarama National League outfit after City agreed to let him go for £4,000 with a 15 per cent sell-on clause.

The move ends Nti’s three-year stay at the Blues and Whites where he made 130 starts, scoring 44 goals and achieving 26 assists.

Speaking on Twitter, Nti said: “Thanks to everyone at Worcester City for a great three years. Buzzing for this new challenge with York City.”

The 6ft attacker began his senior career with Midland Alliance outfit Loughborough University and bagged 49 goals in his second season with the club before Worcester snapped him up in 2013.

Nti maintained his fine form in front of goal with City, netting 16 times in his first campaign, while also collecting the club’s young player of the year and top goalscorer awards.

Goals continued to flow in his second season in the sixth tier of English football as he found the net on 15 occasions, including a strike against League One outfit Scunthorpe United in the second round of the FA Cup.

The winger once again hit double figures last season and was named in the National League North Team of the Year following his consistent performances on the right wing.

Nti’s departure will be another blow to City boss Carl Heeley who has recently seen defender Sam Minihan join Stockport County.

Alex Gudger (Brackley Town), Wayne Thomas (Kidderminster Harriers), Nathan Vaughan (Solihull Moors), Tristian Dunkley (Hednesford Town) and Clayton McDonald (Redditch United) have also left the club.

Richard Batchelor, Graham Hutchison, Sean Geddes and Junior English have agreed to join City ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Heeley said: “Although it is disappointing and slightly frustrating to sign and help develop players to then lose them, that is football and it happens to clubs at all levels.

"It is another example of the staff at the club who have all played a part in helping Daniel achieve his long-term goal and I know he has a strong affection and is grateful for our efforts and the faith shown in him.

"Daniel has given us some great memories and we would like to wish him well at York City. He will always be welcome should he wish to visit us again.”

Meanwhile, former City full-back George Williams has been snapped up by League One side MK Dons after being released by Barnsley.
