WORCESTER City fans have reacted angrily after three directors stepped down on what has been labelled as a “sad day” for the club.

Jem Pitt, Rob Crean and Mike Davis announced their resignations on Monday after claiming they had been “deliberately excluded” from board meetings.

The trio will now focus their efforts on Worcester City Supporters’ Trust who want to make the exiled club a community benefit society.

However, some City supporters have described the situation as “shambolic” as fears grow over the Vanarama National League North outfit’s future.

Billbadger said: “The three board members who have resigned have worked tirelessly on a plan for the future of WCFC.

“When the club ceases to exist in two years and people ask why it happened, tell them that the board didn’t see it coming.

“This is a really sad day for the true supporters of this club, I’m gutted.”

Bird's Eye View said: “No wonder they had to resign after being treated so shabbily. So unprofessional.”

chris peacockpeacock added: “It's like a miscellany of how to run a football club really badly. How long can this shambles continue?”

Fans also reacted on social media, with The Second Jack saying he could not blame Pitt, Crean and Davis for quitting after being “frozen out".

BobinArbroath added: “You have got to feel for the trust. They must be seriously disillusioned to just walk away.

“A sad state of affairs. I can’t see an end to this shambolic mess.”

However, The Imposter has defended chairman Anthony Hampson and the rest of his directors, saying: “What short memories some people have. Back in 2010, the club were less than 24 hours from administration.

“Thanks to Mr Hampson and the board we actually have a football club to support.

“Whilst it may not be perfect just remember what Dave Boddy did for the club.”
