WORCESTER Warriors chief executive Jim O’Toole has congratulated Dean Ryan on his new role with the England Rugby Football Union.

Ryan quit Sixways unexpectedly as Warriors’ director of rugby at the end of June after three years at the helm.

And O’Toole said he hoped Ryan’s appointment as the RFU’s head of international player development “clarifies any lingering doubts that Warriors fans may have had for the reasons behind his departure”.

O'Toole said: "Dean's appointment clarifies any lingering doubts that Warriors fans may have had for the reasons behind his departure and the type of role he was seeking.

"The excellent work that Dean oversaw in the reinvigoration of the Warriors Academy set-up, which produced 17 age-group internationals during the 2015/16 season, will stand him in good stead as he prepares to work with the best emerging English talent in his new role.

"We wish him every success and look forward to welcoming him back to Sixways soon in this new capacity."
