ENGLAND under 20s star Huw Taylor has been described as "a natural leader” by Worcester Warriors head coach Carl Hogg.

Taylor is skippering Warriors in the Singha Premiership Sevens tomorrow at Newcastle Falcons' Kingston Park.

Head coach Carl Hogg said: “Huw (Taylor) has done fantastically well along with the other boys from Worcester who were in the England Under 20s World Cup 0winning side.

“I think Huw has got real potential down the line to be a natural leader of men.”

A young Worcester squad will start their day at 3.25pm against Leicester Tigers before back-to-back clashes with hosts Newcastle at 4.20pm and Sale Sharks at 4.50pm.

Hogg said: “This is an opportunity for the squad to go up to Newcastle in Worcester colours and show what they can do.

"We have never hidden behind the fact we are all about growth at Worcester Warriors and this is a chance for a young group to represent our club.”

Taylor scored one try in last year’s tournament and the squad includes first-team fly-half Tiff Eden.

Josh Adams is among a number of academy prospects, which also includes the likes of Sam Ripper-Smith, Tom Dodd and Ben Fowles.

Warriors will be trying to qualify for finals' day which takes place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on August 7.

Hogg said: "Sevens gives young players a chance to showcase their skills and hopefully move up through the A-team or development games through the system.

"We are travelling to Tignes on Tuesday for a pre-season training in the Alps and the majority of the senior players will travel to France, so this was always about giving the young players a chance.

"I think a lot of clubs look at sevens in a similar way and it's a development pathway for the players.

"Sevens is almost a unique sport and played by specialist players.

“It's about who can click on the day and not necessarily about who has the best team on paper.”

Warriors’ squad: 1 Tom Dodd, 2 Jaike Carter, 3 Sam Ripper-Smith, 4 Huw Taylor (captain), 5 Ted Hill, 6 Ben Fowles, 7 Josh Adams, 8 Tiff Eden, 9 Harry Cochrane, 10 Dion King, 11 Jordan Ainslie, 12 Craig Jackson.
