RAVENMEADOW and Perdiswell Park golfers contested a better-ball stableford at their senior captain’s day.

The so-called dream team of Adrian Burbridge, Ed Nicklin, Barrie Hope and Dave Hancocks won with 99 points.

Phil Lane, Mick Huggins, Mike Sanders and George Postans finished second on 95 with Geoff Nunney, Geoff Edge, Malcolm Stanley and Geoff Jones third on 93.

Alan Gladwin, Roy Turner, Barry Monk and Dennis Morse managed fourth with 91.

Donated prizes raised funds for the Air Ambulance Service charity.

The Chairman’s Cup was won by Alex Farnsworth (5 handicap) and Tommy Hayes (3) with 48 points.

Second were James Ludlow (22) and Barry Warner (17) with 46, followed by Joe Jackson and Paul Butcher on 44 and Jan Schutte and Doug Allen on 43.

Twenty-eight players in 14 pairings took on the challenge.

There were 45 entrants for the Summer National as Steve Wiggin (17) shot 59 nett to take the win by four for a two-shot handicap reduction.

Steve Kupfer (12) took second place on 63 and Mark Purser (10) clawed his way to the third podium place on count-back on 64.

Simon Hine (23) was fourth with 64.

A respectable +7 points was more than enough for Kurt Brauchli (14) and John Tennant (28) to win by the considerable margin of four in the Foursomes Par Plate.

Jones (19) and Monk (20) had +3 to take second place.

Regular podium finisher Nicklin and Morse combined to return +2 for third place on count-back from Schutte and Phil Kupfer and Sanders and Hancocks.

A close contest between 23 pairings saw Turner and Nicklin narrowly take first place on count-back ahead of Hope and Andy Graham with both on 58 nett.

The winners’ higher handicaps on the day were just too much of an advantage and, coupled with consistent scoring, ensured their victory.

Third and fourth places were taken by Michael Hill and Hancocks and Huggins and Paul Wiggett respectively on 59 with count-back again coming into play.

Perdiswell Park drew 3-3 at home to Little Lakes from Bewdley in the Worcestershire Handicap League.

Ade Day and Norman Vernalls won 2&1, Rob Brookes and Scott Thomas halved, Purser and Steve Griffiths lost 3&1, Hope and Jamie Newton halved, Steve Baylis and Lane lost 5&4 and Steve Williams and Chris Williams won 5&4.

Park’s seniors triumphed 4-2 at Kingfisher in heavy rain with successes for Ron Law and Vernalls 4&2, Nicklin and John Hine 3&2 and Mick Huggins and Bill Kelly 2&1.

Roger Jones and Brian Hodgetts and Steve Duggan and Stanley both halved, while Lane and Schutte lost 3&2.

They also won 5-1 against Dudley with victories for Morse and Burbridge 2&1, Roger Jones and Hodgetts 2&1, Law and Vernalls 5&4, Nicklin and George Postans two-up and Duggan and Stanley one-up. Lane and Griffiths lost one-down.
