TABLE-topping Worcester Nomads were frustrated in Worcestershire League Division One after rain ruined their clash against Belbroughton.

Half of the match was completed before rain intervened with Nomads in a strong position to strengthen their title bid.

The impressive Ben Schiffmann took 6-42 as Belbroughton were dismissed for 96 but no more play was possible.

It was a similar tale in most of the other matches in the top flight, except at Burghill.

Hagley bowled the home side out for 113 and then held on for a two-wicket victory in Herefordshire to take them to third place behind Colwall.

Nomads are firm favourites for promotion and need just eight more points to capture the title with three rounds remaining.

Nomads will be hoping to seal the crown at home to Cookley this coming weekend.

Colwall play Hagley in a contest which may decide second spot, while in the relegation tussles Bewdley host Belbroughton and Pedmore visit Oldswinford.

Worcester Dominies slipped to a disappointing 77-run defeat as the Division Two leaders Redditch piled up 320-9 declared in 48 overs with Russell Southwick scoring 121 and Rizwan Chaoudry 117.

The table-toppers dismissed Dominies for 243 in 47 overs despite knocks of 88 from Steve Miles and 60 not out from Jon Hancock.

The result leaves Redditch 47 points clear of Chaddesley and Feckenham who are now tied neck and neck for the second promotion place.

Chaddesley were shot out for 102 at Wormelow who then achieved a winning draw which helped to ease the Herefordshire side’s relegation fears.

Feckenham were subjected to an abandonment at Bromyard but not before Bromyard’s South African Josh van Rensberg had made 71 not out in their 182-6, offering stout resistance to Tom Coulson who took 5-53 for the visiting outfit.

Fourth-placed Evesham were the only other side to record a victory as the home side beat Enville thanks to 6-47 from Fahim Maan as the other two matches were abandoned.

Harborne’s lead in Division Three is still 31 points after their match at Barnards Green was abandoned after 33 overs.

The abandonment left the hosts’ Jez Clarke marooned on 97 not out when chasing a deserved century.

Elsewhere in Division Three, Ross-on-Wye had enough decent weather to overcome Avoncroft.
