GANESH Pillai and Luke Robinson were the big winners in the fourth season of the Worcester Badminton League.

Pillai clinched the Division One title thanks to wins over Chris Alexander, Sinoj Sebastian and Steve Turberfield.

Oli Shier’s 3-0 wins over Alexander, Sebastian and Kashif Ali saw him finish in second place.

Just one point behind was last season’s champion Monirul Islam, who completed 3-0 wins over Alexander and Przemek Iwachow.

Neil Darwell won a competitive Division Two, achieving promotion back to the top division at the first attempt.

Wins over Dean Hardie, Stu Taylor and Beth Brown were enough to help him finish one point ahead of Hassan Javed.

Javed beat Brown, Steve Wilson and Jeremy Swift but suffered 3-0 defeats to Taylor and junior county player Carl Fordham.

Taylor also lost 3-0 to Fordham but beat five other players to take the third and final promotion spot.

Alex Howard beat Tim Westwood 3-0 to secure the Division Three title.

Craig Burns climbed to second place by beating Laura Leach and Westwood although he lost to 3-0 James Kilby.

Tom Wall’s 3-0 beating of Leach was sufficient to finish in third place.

Robinson triumphed in the Superleague thanks to 3-0 wins over Howard, Alexander, Islam and Taylor.

Pillai beat Wall, Darwell, Taylor and Maria Harrison to take second place.

Wall, the early leader, also lost to Alexander and came third.

Season five is now under way.
