WORCESTER footballer Jamie Insall wants to fire East Fife to back-to-back promotions after joining on loan from Hibernian for a second successive season.

The 24-year-old striker became a “fans favourite” at the Bayview Stadium last term as his goals steered the Methil side to the Scottish League Two title.

And the former Worcester Raiders and Bromyard Town forward has now targeted further success with East Fife after making the move from Hibernian.

“I want to get myself between 10 and 15 goals this season,” he said.

“I worked out I scored eight in 15 starts last season, so if I play 30 games that is 16 goals.

“I also want to get East Fife, at minimum, in the play-offs. If they do that or better that will show I am doing a decent job.”

After returning to Hibs in the summer, Insall said he hoped to impress new manager Neil Lennon, who replaced Alan Stubbs in June.

But with ex-Norwich City frontman Grant Holt arriving at the Scottish Championship outfit, Insall felt the best chance he had of forcing his way into Lennon’s plans was to re-join East Fife, managed by Gary Naysmith.

“Lennon wanted me to stay put and fight for my place, but I didn’t want to just sit on the bench as I wanted to get out there and play,” he said.

“I had six or seven clubs in League Two in Scotland coming in for me, but I thought that would not develop me as I had been there, done that and won that league before.

“I also had a couple of sides in League One, but when I knew East Fife were interested, my ears pricked.

“Gary is someone who I look up to as he has had 46 caps for his country and played for the likes of Everton in the Premier League.

“So for him to come in for me again, playing in a league higher, speaks volumes of what he thinks of me as a player.”

Insall added: “Garry Parker, the assistant manager at Hibs, told me to go out, enjoy your football, score goals and make us say we need you back in January.

“But first and foremost, I want to get myself minutes and then to help East Fife push on.

“If I can do that and I am scoring goals the rest will take care of itself.”

Fifers boss Naysmith has also challenged Insall to pick up from where he left off last season.

“I am delighted to announce that fans favourite Jamie Insall has agreed to join us once again on loan from Hibernian,” Naysmith added.

“I felt it was important to get another striker in and I must thank the chairman and the board of directors for finding the money to secure the signing of Jamie.

“He was very keen to return to East Fife once he knew of our interest and the deal was concluded in less than 24 hours.”
