TEENAGE full-back Jamie Shillcock had his first taste of Aviva Premiership rugby last weekend – and admits he’s hungry for more.

The former Warwick School pupil was thrown into the fire in front of 13,184 fans at the Recreation Ground in Bath.

He passed the test with flying colours.

And the 19-year-old has been granted a second opportunity to wear the number 15 jersey in tomorrow's home battle against Sale Sharks (3pm).

“Last week Sam Vesty (backs coach) came to me and told me what was in his head and what I would need to do,” said Shillcock.

“Having my first Premiership start given to me by Sam, Hoggy (head coach Carl Hogg) and Crossy (defence coach Simon Cross) was pretty special.

“When I was running out before the match I was pretty overwhelmed by the situation because I had been waiting all my life to be a Premiership rugby player.

“I knew likes of George Ford would try to test me.

“I made a little bit of meal in the first couple of minutes but other than I felt I handled things well.

“Now I have got a taste I want to keep playing. I will try to take it all in my stride and enjoy every part of it.”

Coventry-born Shillcock hit headlines as a 17-year-old when called up at scrum-half for Warriors’ Championship play-off semi-final second leg against London Scottish.

Shillcock came off the bench at Sixways to make his debut and was also named as a replacement in both final legs against Bristol.

“Looking back I felt thrown into it two years ago and I was very nervous but this time I felt a lot more confident and I knew what was going on,” he said.

“For the Bristol pre-season development game, the plan was for me and Tiff Eden to swap throughout the game between 10 and 15 but I ended up staying at full-back and I did OK.

“Injuries happened and I got my chance at full-back and hopefully I will do myself justice,” added Shillcock, who played three times for England Under 20s last term.
