EXPERIENCED wing Tom Biggs insists he feels “good” and believes he can “give a lot more” to Worcester Warriors.

The 32-year-old has had a frustrating time with injury since bagging 14 tries in 22 appearances during Warriors’ promotion-winning Championship campaign.

That was Biggs’ maiden season at Sixways and he made just nine starts for Warriors at first-team last term due to injury after being named as their player of the month for November.

After a further injury setback in pre-season, Beverley-born Biggs now hopes to make an impact in the remainder of the campaign.

Biggs said: “I had an ankle operation in mid-September so I am just coming back from that.

“It has been great to get a couple of games under my belt and get back to training with the lads.

“I first hurt my ankle against Wasps at the Ricoh Arena last season and came back to play in the Harlequins game.

“In pre-season I had a little bit of discomfort with it and had a few scans and the operation was something that needed doing.

“I feel good – injuries are just one of the things that can happen in rugby and there’s been quite a few at all clubs in the Premiership.”

Biggs, a former Leeds Carnegie, Newcastle Falcons and Bath star, marked his long-awaited return to action with a hat-trick last month for Worcester Cavaliers against Oxford University.

He came on as 64th-minute replacement in Warriors’ 57-22 Aviva Premiership battering at Exeter Chiefs but wasn’t in the squad for Sunday’s 26-12 loss to Wasps.

“It was good experience playing for the Cavaliers with a lot of young guys and new guys at the club and I was pleased to get the game out of the way. It was a nice game to come back to,” he said.

“Premiership games are the matches you want to be playing in and clearly it was a disappointing result at Exeter – they played very well and we played very poorly.

“I was very disappointed not to be in the squad for the Wasps game.

“I didn’t come on for long at Exeter but I thought did well.

“But it’s a highly competitive squad and I am enjoying my time around the squad and we are a team and not about individuals and we support each other.”

Biggs, who is out of contract in the summer, added: “It’s never great being injured but a lot of guys have been in the same boat.

“I just have to crack on with it and enjoy my time around the guys. I am 32 but I feel like I can give a lot more.”
