BACK row Matt Cox admits his rugby future is uncertain but he wants more opportunities to show his worth at Warriors.

The Redditch-born player is out of contract in the summer but still feels “pretty good” and is “hungry” for more action.

The former Gloucester forward, 28, has played all four cup matches this term and come off the bench in three Premiership matches.

“It’s one of those unsteady times when you’re coming to the back-end of your contract and I know I have to perform,” said Cox.

“I enjoy playing at Worcester and a couple more games under my belt would be ideal.

“I want to get my hands on the ball, play and get a few more tackles in.

“You always have to show you are progressing.

“I know there are a lot of back rows signed up at the club and a few boys out of contract who I am sure will be looking around to see what’s out there.”

He continued: “It was a particularly frustrating time in pre-season this time.

“I got an injury in the last session before the Clermont friendly and it put me out of action for five or six weeks.”

Cox added: “When I’ve been playing at number eight I have averaged 15-plus carries a game.

“Usually when I am playing six or seven there’s more of a balance between tackle and other work.

“I am still only 28 and feel pretty good and hungry. A lot of the boys still see me as one of the youngsters.

“Hoggy (head coach Carl Hogg) says my point of difference is my aggression so I am trying to be aggressive and smart on the field at the same time.
