WORCESTER City Amateur Boxing Club schoolboy Ryan Jones travelled to Cambridge to take on March ABC fighter Mark Smith.
Both boys entered the ring with the same record of four wins and only one defeat.
Jones wasted no time and started strongly, dictating the pace with a fast jabs.
As the bout wore on, he continued to up the pressure.
Smith was given a standing count in the second round after hard combinations from Jones went unanswered.
Jones’ punching was the telling factor and by the middle of the third the referee halted proceedings to save the local competitor from further punishment.
Club coach Steve Brown said: “Ryan has always had the ability to hit hard and fight and has worked hard to improve his boxing skills.
“At 31kgs, he is proving a bit of a handful.”
