FORMER Alan’s Tackle captain Tony Whitcher continued his midweek domination at Woodland View when he beat a good turnout to win the Tuesday Deans pool open at the fishery.

Conditions were far from favourable with overnight temperatures down to -6 but Whitcher used his straight ledger tactics to good use.

Drawn on permanent peg 25, the fishery specialist offered punched bread along with corn and pellet hook baits to net a mixed bag of species for a winning total of 32lb 12oz 0dr.

Runner-up was Whitcher’s travelling partner Rob Wilson (St Stephens) with 31-4 from nearby peg 23, while third came Roy Barney (L&F) with 28-4 from peg 17.

Sensas-backed Simon Nickless used the feeder to good effect on Deans peg 10 to win the Saturday open with just 17-8.

Venue regular Paul Sibley (ABC) was second off peg six with 16-8 and in third place was Chris Vallendar (Glos) with 10-4.

Sid Lawrence won the venue’s ice-affected Sunday High pool open when he weighed in 33-4 from peg 25 to beat Wilson with 31-8 from peg 32.

Droitwich Spa open winner Mal Galliers endured a biteless three hours on peg two in the first pound at Porters Mill before a shoal of perch decided to feed.

Using pinkie bait just out of the deeper centre channel saw Galliers net a final two-hour match-winning total of 6-8-2.

Club star Chris Ballard was on peg seven in the same pound where he took a mixed bag also on pinkie bait going 5-13-4.

In third place was Ken Legge with 5-7-5 from peg two in the second pound. Section prizes went to Jamie Smith, Dennis Evans and Paul Wilson.
