WORCESTERSHIRE’S Constance Brooks competed in the finals of the 24th Junior European Open in Spain.
The championships were held in the Costa del Sol and the teenager qualified by winning the girls’ gross event in the regional final at Ingestre, Stafford.
The year eight pupil at Worcester’s Blessed Edward Oldcorne College enjoyed seven nights’ accommodation, personalised prizes, four competition green fees and a final evening’s prize presentation dinner.
Brooks, who plays at Gaudet Luce in Hadzor, enjoyed the competition, which was in association with the Daily Express, despite the weather.
On the first day competition was abandoned due to the torrential rain, thunder and flooding.
Despite not making the cut, Brooks considered she played well on the two championship courses.
College principal Sean Devlin said: “Constance told me she will do her best to qualify again next year and hopes to make the cut.”
