THREE Worcester Crocodiles’ junior water polo team members played for the Midlands in the ASA Inter Regional Under 14 Championships.

Dan Day and Morgan Wells competed in the boys’ championship and enjoyed wins over the South West and Wales and a draw against London in their pool matches.

A gripping semi-final against the North East finished in a 10-10 draw but the Midlands suffered heartbreak in the penalty shoot-out, losing 3-2.

They had less than one hour to recover but won the bronze medal with a thumping 22-9 win against the East with Day top scoring.

Worcester’s Lottie Martin and the girls’ side won their pool matches against defending champions London, Scotland and the North West.

They cruised past the East in their semi-final only to lose out to a strong South West side 13-9 in the final.

This was the first time Midlands sides had been placed in the medals for 20 years.

The trio play for Crocodiles in the Midlands Water Polo League.

Anyone who can swim four lengths aged nine to 15 can try out the sport at the King’s School Worcester pool on Sundays from 5pm until 6pm.
