HALFWAY House AC star Andy Maybury started this year’s campaign with yet another win on his club’s Church Farm pool.

The former Alan’s Tackle captain enjoyed his fourth consecutive victory.

From peg 14 Maybury started on the waggler before changing to the pole, using both pellet and maggot for bait to put seven bream and two small carp onto the scales going 29lb 12oz 0dr.

Starting slow on peg 16 was runner-up Graham Goodyear who changed to the feeder halfway through the match and was rewarded with seven carp together weighing 27-2.

In-form club aggregate leader Steve Williams took third thanks to 21-0 consisting of four carp caught on straight lead and maggot from peg 22 to beat Trevor Morley’s fourth-placed, one-carp weight of 7-0.

The next Halfway House event is on the same venue on Sunday.

Robin Senter took the honours in the Droitwich Spa contest on pounds two and three on the canal at Porters Mill.

An all-worm attack on peg 19 saw Senter land mainly perch along with a few skimmers for a 4-12-14 winning total.

Runner-up prize went to Reg Bastable who took an all-perch net from peg 17 going 3-3-6.

Section winners were Chris Ballard with 2-1-10 and Brian Wood with 2-13-2.

Evesham WMC’s first match of the new year was at Drakes Broughton.

Fishing was hard but Rob Andrews had two carp to win with 14-7.

Mark Sparrow also caught two carp for 11.6.0 and Rick Huxley had carp and F1s for 10-7. Section winners were Spud Taylor (8-7) and Stuart Robinson (6-14).
