WORCESTER’S Bishop Perowne College powered to a 55-0 win over Redditch St Augustine’s High in the Worcestershire schools’ under 16s rugby cup final.

The year 11 boys fought hard through the competition to make the final at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium after being knocked out in the semis last year.

They progressed through regular training with the guidance of skipper Jakob Terry, vice-captain Geriant Howells and William Bishop who all play for Droitwich.

Despite some pre-match nerves the team’s meticulous preparation led to a strong start with the first try arriving after five minutes.

High pressure, hard running lines and solid tackles together with a patient approach led to Will Haughtey diving under the posts through a pick and drive.

Bishop Perowne continued to dominate with Terry, Brad Warr, Adam Biddle and Sam Sowden adding further first-half tries.

Conversions from Sowden and Aaron Brett made it 29-0 at half-time.

Players’ player of the match Gastoa De Sousa (2), Biddle, Terry and Josh Drinkwater then dived over in the second period.

Drinkwater’s try was provided by a powerful run and unselfish pass from fans’ player of the match Terry who was on a hat-trick.
