SPORTS charity CG5 will bring together local athletes, children and supporters to highlight Worcestershire’s young talent.

The VIP evening at the University of Worcester Arena will also see CG5 set out their financial backing, grants and events plans for 2017 as they look to give further help to county sports people.

Those attending on Friday, February 17, at 6.15pm will include Paralympics silver medallist Rebecca Redfern from Droitwich Spa and Malvern canoeist Callie Halliday.

Charity trustee Steve Edwards said: “Our event is all about showcasing some of the fantastic young sports people we have in Worcestershire and giving the next generation a platform to tell their story.

“These are young people we have supported over the past 12 months with financial backing so the event will also give us the opportunity to outline our fundraising plans for 2017.

“We have a really exciting year ahead through a range of events across Worcestershire.

“They are vital to help our fundraising efforts and allow us to keep supporting grassroots sport and high-potential individuals and teams.”

Tickets for the evening, which includes a buffet and match programme and reserved courtside seating for the Worcester Wolves match with London Lions afterwards, are priced at £20 for adults and £10 for children.

CG5 have awarded £16,000 in sporting grants since being established last year.
