TWO Worcester 11-year-olds have been rewarded for their hard work with karate black belts.

Oliver Tibbetts and Will Hulbert attend RGS The Grange where they are instructed by experienced martial arts ace Tony Johnson.

Tibbetts’ mother Terri said: “Oliver and Will have shown real dedication to learning the art.

“Master J (Johnson) has the highest expectations for our children teaching respect and self-discipline.

“The boys wanted to achieve their black belt before leaving year six and they have done it with Master J supporting those aspirations.”

Hulbert’s mother Victoria said: “What started as an after-school club has developed into a popular, well-attended club with many committed children working towards their gradings.

“Oliver and Will began in year three working from white belt all the way through to their black belt.

“The boys are over the moon with this achievement. It is wonderful for their self-esteem and confidence.

“The black belt requires both physical and mental strength and endurance and is very demanding.

“Oliver and Will are very grateful to Master Johnson for his continued commitment and travelling across the country to teach his classes to students in Worcester, Wales and Formby (Merseyside).”
