THERE is “no hidden agenda” at Worcester City, insists caretaker manager John Snape.

Speculation circulated over City’s immediate future with fears they could take voluntary relegation after putting all of their players up for transfer.

But the club’s bosses released a statement insisting they had “not applied” to go down this season and reassuring players of their “intentions” and “ambitions”.

Snape said he was disappointed with the negativity surrounding the National League North strugglers and urged fans to get behind his side.

They slipped into the drop zone after the 2-1 defeat to FC Halifax Town last Saturday.

“The football club are still going,” Snape said. “They have got hope, desire and need everyone working together for us to stay up.

“The club have got to make decisions as everyone knows but it is all out there in the open, there is no hidden agenda, so we will see what we can do moving forward.”

Snape has been in temporary charge alongside Danny Jackman since Carl Heeley left late last month but ruled himself out of the running for the top job.

He said: “I am standing in waiting for somebody to come along. I still have the passion and desire and I love the football club.

“I have been associated with them for a long time and want to see them do well so if a new man comes in and takes over the reins then brilliant. If they don’t then hopefully we can start getting results so we can stay up.”

Since Heeley’s departure, City have drawn 1-1 against Tamworth, lost 3-0 at Harrogate Town and were edged out by play-off chasing Halifax.

They travel to bottom club Altrincham on Saturday (3pm) bidding to end their 13-match winless sequence in the league.

“My own future is in the destiny of the club,” Snape said. “I am helping it out the best way I can with their current project which has been documented.

“It’s a results game and at the end of the day we have not picked up any wins.

“We got one point against Tamworth and possibly should have got one against Halifax. A draw would have been a fair result but overall we are starting to get a response.”
