THREE high-graded Worcester taekwondo instructors were invited into the World United Martial Arts Federation’s hall of fame.

The trio from Master Clive Harrison’s Family Taekwondo club attended a presentation at Aston Villa to receive their awards from grand master and association president Richard Hopkins.

Clive Harrison, an eighth dan, was recognised for his achievements and dedication to martial arts in a career spanning 45 years.

Rachael Harrison, third dan, was rewarded for her love and dedication to the sport which has seen her win English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish and world titles.

Unsung hero Philip Mieczynski, fifth dan, has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to training and teaching the martial art.

The three were among only six taekwondo students to get awards at the event.

Clive Harrison said: “We were honoured to be nominated and inducted into grand master Hopkins’ hall of fame.

“To stand alongside true legends of kung fu, karate, jujutsu and kickboxing was very special for all of us. It was a night we will remember forever.

“The venue was amazing and the level of respect and mutual admiration from everyone was very humbling.

“Between the three of us there is almost 100 years of experience in martial arts and it’s really nice to have that recognised.

“I’m very proud of my instructors who are a credit to their art and fantastic role models for our students to look up to.”
