WORCESTER Warriors hooker Jaba Bregvadze has been called up for international duty with Georgia.

Bregvadze has been recalled to the Rugby Europe Championship leaders’ squad for their match against Spain on Saturday.

The match will take place in the town of Medina Del Campo in Spanish rugby heartland.

Bregvadze will miss Warriors’ Aviva Premiership relegation battle against basement boys Bristol at Sixways on Sunday (3pm).

The 29-year-old has played 13 times in the Premiership for Warriors this term, including five starts.

Bregvadze came on as a replacement for Niall Annett in their 24-14 defeat at Northampton Saints last Saturday.

His absence looks set to provide an opportunity for USA hooker Joe Taufete'e who made his Premiership debut in Worcester’s 48-32 against Exeter Chiefs earlier month.

Georgia picked up bonus points from a 31-6 win in Belgium and a 50-6 home rout against Germany.

However, both Georgia hookers were injured against Germany and coach Milton Haig has called for Bregvadze and Shalva Mamukashvili.

Haig said: “We have called in Jaba and Shalva due to the injury of both hookers used for the first two games.

"Badri Alkhazashvili will be out for at least four weeks and Giorgi Chkoidze probably for the next two weeks."

The selection for Georgia’s other games against Russia and Romania will be named after this weekend’s clash against Spain.
