WORCESTER Warriors have confirmed the signing of Wasps academy starlet Tom Howe.

The Worcester News revealed five weeks ago the wing had penned a deal and would be arriving at Sixways in the summer.

Howe has been a regular through the England age-groups in recent seasons, having helped the under 20s to the Junior World Championship title last year.

Howe has made 13 appearances for Wasps, having crossed the whitewash on two occasions – one against Warriors in November’s Anglo-Welsh Cup hammering.

His performance in the clash has also seen him shortlisted for the Anglo-Welsh Cup Breakthrough Award alongside Warriors’ Josh Adams.

The 21-year-old also impressed at the 2016 Singha Premiership Sevens where he scored in the final as Wasps won the tournament.

Born in Milton Keynes, Howe cut his teeth at Beaconsfield RFC, the club where Warriors chief executive Jim O’Toole has a strong association.

He has enjoyed loan spells at Championship side Jersey Reds and also with Coventry in National League One this season.

Warriors director of rugby Gary Gold said: “Tom is a hungry, young player who will add further depth to our options in the back three.

“He has shone for Wasps when presented with the opportunity and hopefully he can use the resources around him at Sixways to flourish as a player.”

Howe said: “I’d like to thank Wasps for the opportunities they have given me during my time in the Academy but I’m now looking forward to a new chapter.

“Worcester is clearly a place where young players are given the support they need to be able to make steps in the right direction as a rugby player.

“From outside, you see the likes of Jamie Shillcock, Josh Adams and others getting chances in the Premiership and excelling, and it’s something that has appealed to me.

“I’m looking forward to joining in the summer and hopefully I can make the same progress as some of those young guys and compete for a place in the first-team.”
