BARNARDS Green continued their winning run in Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One.

Royal Grammar School Worcester (91 all out) lost to Green (92-3) with 11 balls remaining.

The students' innings ended in the ninth over and there were one or two poor calls with a direct hit to help and Dannie Rees claimed several lbw decisions.

RGS stuck to the task in reply and collected three wickets to run-outs after Ryan Tongue (25) and Adam Dovey (19) set up the innings with 45 from less than four overs.

Rees (20) and Elliott Hennessy (17 not out) helped take Green to victory with time to spare and wickets in hand.

Cutnall Green (116-5) beat Avoncroft (94 all out) by 22 runs.

Avoncroft reduced Green to 89-4 but then conceded 27 in the final two overs.

Green started explosively with Matt Harris (32no) and Paul Hutchins (20) taking 19 from Adam Rodway’s first over.

But they were restrained to 58-2 after a couple of run-outs.

Derek Higgins (29) played positively and plundered 17 from the final over with Harris after he returned from retiring.

Mark Whitehead bowled well but had tweaked a hamstring so Rodway (14) opened with Tom Murray (25).

Facing the accurate Hutchins (0-12) and Neil Evans (0-23) Avoncroft fell behind the rate and then four wickets fell for 10 runs.

In Division Two leaders and reigning champions Worcester Nomads C (117-5) lost to Martley (119-4) with an over remaining.

Martley moved onto equal points as their batting without the injured Pat Bibby provided a sound base to win from.

Ian Flower (36) and Pete Gardner (31no) both retired in the sixth over at 59-1.

Malcolm Jones' second over put a stop to early celebrations, dismissing both Jim Basford and Alex Basford to reduce Martley to 75-3 after eight overs.

Simon van Tongeren (28no) was partnered by the returning retirees, taking just three overs to knock off the remaining 44 runs and enhance their title bid though Nomads stay top on averages.

All Nomads' wickets fell to run-outs as Roger Dixon (23), Jamie Oliver (26) and Jones (32no) provided the bulk of the runs.

Old Vigornians (93-4) lost to WCB Seniors (95-4) with three balls remaining.

Coasting at 66-0 by halfway chasing just 93 Seniors' lower order failed to maintain the momentum provided by openers Peter Gurr (29no) and Robin Lloyd (22) but the former returned to seal victory.

Following a fine low catch by Lloyd to dismiss Chris Drew there were far too many dot balls.

Oz Fiaz scored 25 slowly before James Bader (22) brought life to the proceedings until missing a straight one.

Only three runs from the final over emphasised the stop-start rhythm of the innings.
