CARETAKER boss John Snape does not expect any of his players to leave Worcester City despite receiving enquiries from clubs.

Non-league teams have until 5pm tomorrow to register new players before the window shuts for the rest of this season.

Snape revealed he had a “couple of enquiries” for two of his players, which he refused to name.

But he believes his squad want to stick together and help Worcester avoid relegation from Vanarama National League North.

The Blue and Whites are level on points with third-from-bottom Gainsborough Trinity, but have a better goal-difference.

“We have had a couple of enquiries for a couple of our players,” Snape said.

“I don’t envisage them going. The reason why is because I don’t think they want to go.

“I think they want to see it out and have a go from now until the season (at City).”

After the departure of striker Lee Hughes to AFC Telford United last month, City put all their players up for transfer in a bid to slash their playing budget.

But since then, only forward Colby Bishop (Boston United), attacking midfielder Micah Evans (Altrincham), winger Connor Hughes and experienced frontman Steven Craig have left the cash-strapped club.

And with their sixth tier status under threat, Snape says his players want to “give their all” for Worcester, who have not won a league game since November.

“If there is a potential move that comes up for anybody that does want to go, then by all means we will talk and see if that materialises,” Snape added.

“But at the moment I think the lads do want to stay.

“I do think they want to give their all and if we fall short it won’t be through a lack of endeavour or hard work.”
