GANESH Pillai regained the Worcester Badminton League Division One crown in the seventh season of the competition.

He last won the title in the fourth campaign and had since suffered relegation to Division Two which he won last season.

Pillai beat Craig Burns, Neil Darwell, Sinoj Sebastian and Santi Rajaraman 3-0 and Chris Alexander and Hassan Javed 2-1.

Alexander was level on points with Pillai but second, losing 3-0 to Rajaraman but beating Burns, Javed, Darwell and Jeremy Swift 3-0 and Sebastian 2-1.

Javed came third, beating Burns, Darwell and Swift. He lost to Sebastian and Rajaraman.

Division Two was won by Kashif Ali who lost just once, 3-0 to Stu Taylor, and defeated Dean Hardie, Steve Wilson and Jack Davies 3-0.

A 2-1 win in his match with Robert Appleby sealed the title and kept his opponent in second place although level on points.

Appleby beat Hardie, Wilson and Davies too but also lost to Taylor and Carl Fordham. Taylor came third, also beating Hardie.

Tom Clement finished unbeaten at the top of Division Three, dropping just one game in the process.

He won 3-0 against Laura Leach, Neil Harding, Maria Harrison and Peter Eden.

The only game he lost was 24-22 in his 2-1 win over Beth Brown.

Harding came second by beating Peter Eden and Reuben Brunt but he lost 2-1 to Harrison and Brown and 3-0 to Leach.

Brown took the third and final promotion spot, also beating Harrison and Eden.

Ali retained the Superleague title, the third time he has held it.

He beat Swift and Javed 2-1 and Harding and Andrew Radford 3-0 but Alexander beat him 3-0.

Alexander finished on the same number of points but won a game fewer to take second place. He lost 2-1 to Przemek Iwachow.

Javed was third thanks to 3-0 wins over Brown and Clement.

The league welcome players of all standards and newcomers can begin matches immediately.
