MATCH organiser Dave Warren made good use of his end peg to beat an excellent turnout and comfortably win the Drummonds Dub contest.

From the grass bank peg six Warren used groundbait and pellet at 14 metres where due to the venue's vast shoals of small skimmers failing to show he netted bigger bream to 3lb and finished with 21lb 5oz 0dr.

Runner-up Alan Baldwin also took bream on the pole and maggot but his peg three on the same bank died in the last hour leaving him well short with 14-7.

Third was consistent Keith Holt whose mainly skimmer net came from the opposite road bank peg nine and went 14-2 while Matt Barnes had 13-12 for fourth.

Docklow’s Richard Blight made a rare club appearance to win the latest Swan AC encounter on a below-par Mythe pool.

Drawn on bonus peg 21 he not only beat the venue expert off the next peg but all of the other competitors with four bream on an open-end feeder and maggot set-up going 14-6.

Second was Mick Samson whose three worm-caught bream went 10-0 to beat Bill Biddle with two bream and two rudd from peg seven going 5-11.

Section winners were John Moloney and Alan Baldwin.

The next Swan contest is on the Staffs and Worcs canal at Kidderminster on May 7.

Droitwich Spa AC clubman Dave Anderson had an excellent week on the canals when he won two matches on the trot.

The club contest was on the Porters Mill section where Anderson netted a mixed bag on pinkies and maggot for a narrow win from peg one going 6-2-8.

Second was Rod Turner whose skimmer catch of 6-2-5 came from the adjacent peg two.

Best catch from the second pound was Mick Salcombe’s peg 20 third-placed net of 3-3-8 while on peg 14 came Pete Chance weighing 3-3-2.

Section prizes went to Colin Davis, Paul Wilson, Titch Hartle and Reg Bastable.

The previous win for Anderson was more convincing in a knock-up at Stoke Works with a bream, skimmer and roach weight of 15-11.

Second came Lloyd Davis with 6-14-7 and third was Ken Legg with 5-7-12.
