WORCESTER’S Mia Bewley played a key role to claim gold for England at the European Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships.

The national girls' junior team rolled their way to victory in Tali, Finland.

Isabel Allen, Lorna Scott, Natasha Ailes and Bewley made up the talented team who defeated Finland in a nail-biting final.

The quartet rolled a total of 4,625 over their six qualifying games to make the medal play-offs in third place.

England defeated Sweden in the semi-finals 755-723 before meeting Finland in the final.

A tense game led to a draw of 750-750, forcing a roll-off with Bewley striking to take the gold medal for England.

Bewley was 23rd in the girls' singles with fourth-placed Scott the best England performer to reach the semi-finals.
