DAVID Brace secured a win double at Worcester's Ravenmeadow and Perdiswell Park Golf Club.

His first arrived in the midweek stableford when the 26-handicapper returned 37 points for victory.

Although only recording one par on the ninth Brace scored on every hole and after a decent front nine did even better on the way in to be the only player to better nett par for the course.

Mark Brookes (28) was second after playing to his handicap and returning 36.  Colin Matthews (14) carded 31 points to finish third.

Brace then took full advantage of the better conditions to bring home his second win, taking the spring national with 63 nett.

Six pars took him out in front and by keeping the bad holes within respectable limits he enjoyed a convincing victory.

Three shots behind came three tied finishers on 66 who had to rely on countback to decide their standings.

Malcolm Dainty (21) took second leaving Ade Day (8) and Richard Palfrey (18) third and fourth respectively.

Eight of the 46 players handed in scores of nett par or better for the course.

In-form Adrian Burbridge (17) produced his A game in round one of the President’s Trophy with 64 nett.

A birdie on the 16th and seven pars gave Burbridge a solid base and three double bogies did not deny him.

Mike Williams (21) came up just short with 65 to take second place.  Jan Schutte (17) brought home 66 to take third and Tony Solomon (28) got fourth with 67 on countback from Dennis Morse.

Burbridge, Williams and Schutte received handicap cuts to 16, 20 and 16 respectively.

The ladies’ stableford was close with countback required.

Sue Price (26) returned a well-worked 29 points with three pars in the round.

Finishing tied was Jane Wood (36) while Mary Bendall (35) secured third from Sue Clissett (35) on 26.

The seniors lost 4-3 at Rodway Hill with wins for Martin Hucker and Fred Hackett 4&3 and Roger Jones and Roy Turner 3&1.

Ed Nicklin and Mick Huggins and Phil Lane and Steve Duggan both halved.

Schutte and Malcolm Stanley lost 4-3, Roger Savage and Mike Ransom 5-4 and Stephen Griffiths and Geoff Jones 2-1.
