BROMSGROVE Sporting chairman Mike Burke has confirmed ground-share partners Worcester City will remain at the Victoria Ground for at least another season.

Speculation has been rife over City's future following their demotion to the Midland League Premier Division next season which is a drop of three levels after finishing third from bottom in Vanarama National League North this term.

As a result Worcester will be playing Bromsgrove Sporting next season.

Chairman Burke said: "It should make for an interesting local derby on Boxing Day and at Easter.

"As far as the lease is concerned Worcester signed a two-year deal with an option on three.

"The deal is for rent on the ground and doesn't impact as to which league they are playing in."

Burke also revealed the Division One champions had agreed a budget with manager Paul Smith for next season and said: "He seems happy with the figure we have offered him.

"We want to maintain our momentum and believe it is a budget capable of winning the league although we are mindful we'll be coming up against much bigger clubs next season with Worcester City a case in mind.

"But you don't go into a league to finish second or third."

Work is taking place at the Victoria Ground to refurbish the pitch.

There are also plans to improve the kitchen and enlarge the club shop during the close-season.

Burke added: "We're always on the lookout for volunteers to help with the general maintenance of the ground.

"There are people working at the club most days of the week. If anyone can help please contact the club."
