THE Worcestershire Black Knights slipped to a 33-7 defeat against unbeaten Cornish Sharks in the British American Football League Southern Conference Division Two West.

The experienced Sharks made a flying start and opened up a commanding 27-0 lead after putting the Black Knights on the back foot.

The Knights came out strongly in the second half but struggled to break through Sharks’ defence.

Sam Bennett, Jay Styles and James Lawrence were all closed down quickly as the Knights struggled to gain yards.

The Black Knights finally got on the scoresheet when the Cornish quarter-back was closed down.

He threw the ball straight into the hands of cornerback James Bacon, who returned the ball 50 yards to the endzone. The conversion was successful.

The Worcestershire outfit travel to Dorset on June 4, and the Black Knights will want to get back to winning ways, against a Jurassic Coast Raptors side who pipped them by two points last month.

The Black Knights’ next home game is against Swindon Storm at Kings Norton Rugby Club on June 11 (2.30pm).
