FORMER England women's captain Charlotte Edwards will be a special guest at Worcestershire Cricket's May half-term Rapids camp.

Edwards visits on the first day with the event running from next Tuesday until Friday and she will host a fun training session including drills and games.

There will be a question-and-answer session afterwards.

The cricket camp, run by qualified coaches, is open to children of any ability aged seven to 13 and will also include a tour around the New Road venue.

The full camp costs £80 while a day is £25 each though the first day is free for girls.

A raffle draw for participants will involve prizes of a Rapids' stars-signed bat, T-shirt and junior membership at Worcestershire.

There will also be a countywide Rapids camp at Halesowen from Wednesday until Friday.

Worcestershire Cricket game development officer Lauren Rowles said: “We are very grateful to Chance to Shine for providing us with this opportunity to host Charlotte for the day.

"This is such a brilliant opportunity for girls around the county so it only seemed right to offer it for free to make it accessible to all girls and really spark some engagement in the younger female age groups.

“Charlotte is potentially the best role model in the women’s game. To have her here in Worcestershire to inspire the next generation of female cricketers is fantastic.”
