HIMBLETON made it five straight wins after a 114-run victory at Five Ways Old Edwardians opened up a 29-point cushion in second place in Worcestershire League Division Three.

Captain Stuart Dickenson took a bold decision to bat first on a greasy, green top and the openers worked hard for their runs.

Ricky Pretty excelled in his gritty 39 but Jon Critchlow chipped to cover for only five.

The Pretty twins rebuilt with Ali (51) making his seventh successive half-century before Sean Jenkins' good form continued as he scored a match-defining 66.

Jenkins, aggressive with his running and positive with his stroke play, was well caught at point with the score on 188-4.

Jamie Alford (17) ran his captain out for only five and was then dismissed himself.

From 206-6 Rob Perrins and Sam Jenkins both scored 23 as they pushed the final score to 270-8 from 50 overs.

In reply Himbleton took regular wickets as Dickenson set clever fields and used his bowlers intelligently in the conditions.

Greg Dale (4-39) bowled with an aggression the hosts could not cope with and Dickenson’s unorthodox field settings helped reward Alford with 2-27.

George Clifton and Sean Jenkins picked up one wicket apiece and with a run out and Jon Bassett unable to bat after dislocating his finger Himbleton wrapped up the innings for 156 in the 39th over.

They host leaders Kempsey on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash.
