WORCESTER recorded a 5-0 victory over city rivals St Dunstans in Area National Top Club round two.

After going ahead in the two wood singles Simon Jones trailed for seven ends but made a great recovery by winning the final four to beat Tony Yapp by two shots.

Winning the four wood singles Andy Walters picked up a four and three threes to claim victory after only 14 ends.

With Worcester’s triples leading by 13 shots after 16 ends St Dunstans conceded the game and match.

Worcester led the pairs 17-13 after 19 ends and the rinks by seven shots after 17.

Worcester travel to Ledbury in the next round.

Worcester A progressed to the National Club Two Fours third round after they convincingly beat Kidderminster’s Chester Road A by 19 shots 42-23 at Wood Terrace.

The hosts led by 10 shots at six ends after Rob Stanley’s rink picked up a six, five and a four against James Allington.

Grant Burgess on the adjoining rink replied with two threes.

But Stanley’s foursome continued to pick up shots, including two threes and won by 18 shots.

After trailing by eight shots at seven ends Walters’ rink gradually pulled back the arrears.

On the 18th end they had secured a one-shot advantage when the match was concluded in favour of Worcester.

Worcester beat Oldington from Kidderminster by 12 shots 85-73 at Wood Terrace despite only winning three of the five triples.

The teams were level at 15-15 after five ends.

Although the visitors picked up two fours the hosts held a four-shot advantage at the halfway stage with a four and two threes. 

A five increased  Worcester’s lead to 10 shots at 15 ends.

They sealed victory with a six and four on the penultimate end although the visitors replied with a five.

After taking an early lead Andy Cook’s trio led the way by 10 shots and Mike Bullock’s triple won by nine on picking up a five following a close first half.

Trailing for the first seven ends Colin Hemming’s trio picked up 10 shots on four successive ends to triumph by three.
