WEST Malvern continued to lead the way in Worcestershire League Division Four after powering past bottom-of-the-table Worcester thirds.

But the city hosts put up a battle before losing by 75 runs, scoring 206 all out in reply to 281-6 from 50 overs.

West’s on-song opener Phil Chaundy smashed 137 with the main support from Robin Lloyd (64).

Dormston Cook bowled well for Worcester with 2-22 from 10 overs.

Skipper Tom Pinfield top scored with 45 in reply while opener Dave Robinson and Muhammad Ali Raza scored 32 each.

But West chipped away to dismiss them in 43.3 overs with Matt Hindmarsh bowling a tight 2-19 from 10 overs and Matt Gammon taking 3-51.

Worcester visit high-flying Hanley Castle and Upton on Saturday and West entertain Tenbury.
