NEW chairman Daniel Parvin believes Pershore Town Football Club have a solid foundation to move forward.

Parvin is being supported by vice-chairman Tim Phillips and a new committee.

He has succeeded chairman Steve Bradstock and co-chairman Tim Webb who stood down from the Midland League Division One outfit after the end of last term.

"When Webb stepped down at the end of the season, followed then by Bradstock three weeks later, there was a meeting to plan what was going to happen with the club and its 18 teams,” said Parvin.

“It was at that meeting I put my name forward for the chairman’s role which received the backing of many in attendance.

“I was only confident in doing this knowing the club was financially secure with no debt and that there were no outstanding issues.

“After a smooth handover from the previous committee, I am now able to progress matters from the solid foundation that is in place.”

Phillips, who is Pershore’s groundsman, has been involved in the Worcester football scene for most of his life.

Phillips was a player, ran a team, refereed for 32 years and has been secretary of the McDonald’s Worcester and District League for the last eight years.

“Between us we have established a new committee which includes people who have been involved with the club since its start in 1988,” said Parvin, who moved to Pershore with his wife in 2003.

“Tim’s real love is sports ground work. Apart from his groundsman duties at Town, Tim is also a cricket groundsman in Worcester.”

Parvin first got involved with Town when a call for help was made to assist with his daughter’s team.

He has completed an FA coaching course and now manages the under 12s girls’ team.

Parvin also helps with the under 10s girls and their newest team, Little Kickers.

He said: “I am in daily contact with our first-team manager Quentin Townsend and we are looking forward to the new season.

"We are hosting some fantastic local teams as part of our pre-season training with Worcester City, Malvern Town, Evesham United and Kidderminster Harriers.

“Our members’ bar has been busy with families and is open every Saturday night.”
