KEMPSEY'S Zak O'Neill scored a staggering 201 not out as they beat fellow high-fliers Himbleton by 82 runs in Worcestershire League Division Three.

Unhappy at being restricted to the previous week’s unbeaten 99 O’Neill set out to make a big score at Himbleton’s small ground.

He has now reached 462 runs for the season, just 13 behind his brother Sam who is still not fit to play after being hit in the head by the ball during a match.

But the leading scorer in the division on 477 is another Kempsey batsman captain Chris Jones who himself made 106 in the total of 394-3.

Second-placed Himbleton were not overawed and despite losing by 82 runs they made 312 all out thanks to 108 from Richard Sugden.

Table-toppers Kempsey stretched their lead over Himbleton to 37 points and Bartestree and Lugwardine remained third following a win at home to Malvern.

Rushwick made their second score of 300 or more in three weeks as Phil Hamilton’s 116 and Stuart Parker’s unbeaten 105 powered them to a 70-run victory at Astwood Bank’s Hanbury ground.

They have leapt above Martley in the process, easing their relegation worries a little.

Martley lost by two wickets at home to Five Ways Old Edwardians despite Dominic Jones scoring 97 while Alvechurch and Hopwood easily beat Himley.

Division One has new leaders after a fine win for Worcester who had slipped to fourth following three successive defeats.

In Division Four West Malvern slipped up losing at home to Tenbury which allowed Bromsgrove, victors over eight-man Hallow who they dismissed for 44, to catch up and jointly head the table.

Hanley Castle and Upton are still third just a slender two points behind after they beat bottom side Worcester.

Tenbury joined the promotion race in fourth and Claverley leapfrogged Kidderminster with their win.
