HEAD of coaching Matt Gardiner is pleased with the attitude of Kidderminster Harriers’ players ahead of another pre-season test tomorrow night (7.45pm).

Harriers followed up 4-0 and 3-0 defeats to Championship giants Derby County and Aston Villa respectively by thrashing Midland League neighbours Stourport Swifts 8-0 at Walshes Meadow.

Forward Joe Ironside bagged four goals and will look for more when the Aggborough side visit Southern League Premier Division outfit Redditch United in the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup semi-finals.

Ex-Worcester City joint manager Gardiner said: “It’s always good to get the forwards on the scoresheet and there were some other contributions as well.

“You learn a lot about people against tough opposition but equally against Stourport the attitude had to be right as well and it was.

“With all of the games we look at it from the conditioning point of view. That’s the main reason for pre-season.

“But also we look at what we try to get from games from a tactical and technical point of view. We look at the players who are signed on and the players trying to earn a contract.”

Redditch won 3-1 against Bromsgrove Sporting in a friendly at the weekend with Pauly Apostolopolos (2) and Danilo Johnson netting and John Pykett replying.

Sporting head to Northern Premier League new boys Alvechurch tomorrow night (7.45pm).

Malvern Town host National League South side Gloucester City tomorrow night (7.45pm) after a 2-1 win at lower-ranked Droitwich Spa on Saturday.

Gloucester signed Malvern midfielder Reece King permanently over the summer.

Richardson and Jake Churchill scored the goals against Spa with Bradley Burgess replying.

Hereford FC visit Bishops Cleeve tomorrow night (7.45pm) after a 1-1 draw at Wellington at the weekend when Pablo Haysham equalised.
