HEAD of coaching Matt Gardiner revealed how new goalkeeper Brandon Hall’s personality had helped to secure his Kidderminster Harriers deal.

Harriers snapped up the ex-Woking and Ebbsfleet custodian, 24, on a one-year contract after a successful pre-season.

“Brandon has been in since day one of pre-season,” said Gardiner of the former Charlton Athletic youth teamer.

“He hasn’t been full-time for a while and has got better and better since arriving.

“We think he has the attributes to play the way we need him to.

“He is a good goalkeeper who has featured for England C, the Nike Academy and V9 Academy and is good with his feet as well as being able to do everything else you would expect.

“More importantly he is a good person and his attitude is spot on.

“We want him to push all the way for the number one jersey and he is fully prepared to fight for his place.”

Harriers reached the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup final with a 3-2 win at Redditch United thanks to goals from three trialists.

Experienced manager Mark Yates is to rejoin Harriers as coach of the club’s new under 23s team.

Former midfielder Yates was boss at Aggborough between 2006 and 2010 before taking charge of Cheltenham Town and Crawley Town in the Football League.

He will work full-time with the young players who will train daily while studying on the club’s higher education programme.

In other friendlies Malvern Town lost 2-0 to Gloucester City and Bromsgrove Sporting fell 1-0 at Alvechurch.

Hereford FC thrashed Bishops Cleeve 5-1 with John Mills (2), Jack Deaman, Rob Purdie and Jimmy Oates scoring.

Ex-Worcester City striker Joe Bates had fired Cleeve ahead.
