A CENTURY from Aidan Thompson and match-winning spell from Rob Lanchbury-Thomas saw Old Vigornians to a 47-win in a friendly against Fladbury.

Thompson's fifth century for the club was his highest score in nearly 20 years.

He was helped by Nic Sproson who made 60 in a partnership as the pair showed much younger batsmen the value of quick running between the wickets as well as how to punish the bad ball.

Thompson hit 20 boundaries including two sixes.

Thanks to a brutal onslaught from Alex Parker, who made 44 including five sixes at the end of the innings, OVs posted 290-7 and declared in the last of their 40 overs.

Ivan Campbell-Ferguson took 2-39 and removed the dangerous Harry Stokes first ball.

But Fladbury launched a counter-attack that saw them reach 209-3 with 12 overs remaining as Ryan Dixon made 75 and James Turner 85.

Leg spinner Lanchbury-Thomas then bowled the decisive spell.

He turned the ball so much he was unplayable and in three overs took 4-2 for his best spell for the club since 2011.

Mohammed Riaz (2-11) tidied up the tail as Fladbury were bowled out for 243 with 11 balls left.
