WORCESTER specialist angler Gavin Senter took an incredible brace of carp from the local canal in a hectic half-hour period during a short session.

Senter is no stranger to individual big carp captures but this latest encounter on the Worcester to Birmingham canal eclipsed all others, coming from such a notorious difficult location.

Setting out his stall for big fish on the towpath at Blackpole Senter’s reward came in the shape of two fin perfect common carp, the biggest weighing a staggering 25lbs 11oz 0dr.

The smaller fish, which came just 30 minutes later, tipped the scales at 23-5 and both fell for a Carpbaits365 Salmex boilie offered on a hair rig set-up across to the far bank reed bed.

Gareth Cook took the honours in the Whitehall1212 AC contest at Court Farm when he put 62-6 of small carp onto the scales all taken on corn at 12 metres on peg 19.

Second came Richard Oliver who went out to 14 metres on peg 16 to take a similar catch on pellet going 44-2 to beat Tracy Pegram’s 42-10 margin-caught net.

Section winners were Martin Sharpe, Rob Page and Dan Sydall.

The silver fish winner was John Shelton with 19-6.

Club star Chris Ballard once again proved unbeatable when Droitwich Spa AC visited Evesham’s Jubilee Fishery.

Taking carp on the meat from peg two Ballard put a winning 84-8 onto the scales.

The runner-up prize went to new member Gary Seadon with 40-0 from peg 13 while in third place came Dave Lowe with 35-8.

Section prizes went to Gary Summers and Kevin Downton.

The club are again organising the popular Ted Gibbs memorial contest which this year will be held on the canal at Stoke Works on Sunday, September 10.

Competitors need to be booked in by September 1 through either Gary Summers on 07795 568636 or Dave Lowe on 01562 638016.
